Healing Journey & Life Lessons via Mercury Retrogrades
Namaste, Y'all,
As we round out this first of four Mercury Retrogrades of 2026, I'm reminded of the past several years and the changes that have taken place in my life, changes that I never imagined would manifest, but here they are. Life is lifen' and change is life, so there's no use in crying over spilled milk, right? Some of you may be in a similar state of pause and reflection in your life journey to date. What are some hot topics that no longer bring you interest? Who is left standing alongside you after experiencing traumatic situations or major growth? Have you been pursuing quests that you now find lackluster and meaningless? I know on a personal level that my focus and passions have shifted drastically, causing me to question the things I was so hell bent on achieving. Now I see myself (with a humorous grin across my lips) in the ways and means that got me caught up in pursuing fluff. Having compassion for myself has been invaluable in my healing journey. The days of sitting in judgment and regret for my actions or lack thereof are long behind me. Now it's finding joy and making peace in the moment, instead of holding my feet to the fire for exercising my free will to experience humanity. It's in the disappointment where the lessons are hidden, not in playing safe.
One of the key components of having Mercury Retrogrades throughout the year (every quarter) is to give us a deep dive into our life lessons. Have we learned, or are we repeating them? You know you've learned them when the experience is not showing up in your life. A situation or relationship that continues to play out, even if the original cast of characters is gone but the content is the same, means that you're still lost in the sauce (the wounded, unhealed mess). We can't cheat in this class, either. It's guaranteed to keep showing up until you do the work. It didn't dawn on me that this was the case until I hit my 40s! I couldn't figure out why I was ending up in the same situation, with the same dynamics, with new clowns in different suits. I, like many of us, firmly believed that being in a new environment would void out the past unhealed one. Oh, contraire, mon frère. It took time to realize that I was the drama, and the new characters were simply reflecting it back. Talk about getting the ego checked, and hard. Are you stuck in a rut? Have you reached a tipping point regarding your relationship wounds being ripped open on repeat?
Let this information and my personal experience give you pause to heal any unhealed issues in your life, in particular, the painful repetitive ones. This may stem from childhood abuses to past life generational karma. Get the help that you need to start the healing process, and most importantly, stay the course. Make it your mission to thoroughly heal as much as you're capable, and do seek professional help if you need it. I see a therapist for outside, unbiased, and potential avenues that provide guidance in taking responsibility and accountability for fixing myself, not as a crutch. Healers and therapists are facilitators in your healing process, not the cure. That's solely up to you. We all heal at our individual pace, so be sure to exercise compassion with yourself. If you have any stigma or judgment around seeking therapy, drop it. You're doing yourself a massive disservice, and denying healthy resources is not a part of healing. Help yourself, get the help, heal yourself, and learn the lessons.
Love, light, and happy healing,
Terry Perkins
